Given :  A man starts his job with a certain monthly salary and earns a fixed increment every year .  his salary would be Rs. 15000 after 4 years of service and Rs.18000 after 10 years of service.

To find :  form of a pair of linear equations in two variables  find the man's starting salary and his annual increment

Solution:

Let say man starting Salary  =  A    Rs

Increment every year  = B   Rs

Salary after 4 Years  =  A + 4B  = 15000        Eq1

Salary after 10 Years  =  A + 10B  = 18000     Eq2

Eq2 - Eq1

=> 6B = 3000

=> B = 500

putting eq1

=> A + 4(500) = 15000

=> A + 2000 = 15000

=> A = 13000

man starting Salary  = Rs 13000

annual increment   = rs 500

a pair of linear equations A + 4B  = 15000     &   A + 10B  = 18000
