Let the man starts his journey from A and travels 3 km to B.

Then he takes turn to north from point B and travels 4 km to C .

Now total distance travelled= distance travelled from Ato B and B to C

= 3 km + 4 km

=7km

Now displacement =

$\sqrt{3 { }^{2} } + \sqrt{} 4 {}^{2}$

=root under(9km square + 16 km square)

= root under(25km square)

= 5 km
