A dry mouth leads to a condition called as a Xerostomia, in which there is no saliva found in the mouth.
As saliva is required for the activities like swallowing, tasting, chewing and talking. Due to the absence of saliva in the mouth, all these activities get affected.
Saliva also holds the bacteria in the right amount, without saliva these bacteria will not be able to survive and cause a mouth problem like sores, gum diseases, dental problems etc.
