Answer:

a) 5 kg m/s

b) 0 kg m/s

Explanation:

Given :

  • Mass of the body = 500 grams = 0.5 kg

  • Initial velocity of the body = u = 10 m/s

To find :

  • Initial momentum of the body

  • Momentum at its highest point

Initial momentum =M×u

Initial momentum = 0.5×10 = 5 kg m/s

At its highest point of motion the final velocity of the body will be equal to 0 m/s

Final momentum = 0.5×0

Final momentum = 0 kg m/s

The initial momentum is equal to 5 kg m/s and final momentum is equal to 0 kg m/s

Given :-

  • Weight of ball =500g = 500/1000=0.5kg.

  • Velocity of ball = 10m/s

To Find:-

  • Initial momentum of ball.

  • Momentum at the highest point of flight.

Solution :-

We know that,

➦Momentum is the product of mass and velocity.

Momentum =mass× velocity.

☛ Initial momentum = mass × initial velocity.

➭ Initial momentum = 0.5× 10

➭ Initial momentum = 5kgm/s

∴ The initial momentum is 5kgm/s.

And Now,

We have to calculate the the momentum at highest point of flight.

As the ball reach at highest point of flight their velocity will be 0.

The velocity of Ball at highest point of flight =0m/s

➦Momentum = mass ×velocity

➭ Momentum = 0.5 × 0

➭ Momentum = 0kgm/s

∴ The Momentum at highest point of flight is 0 kgm/s.
