v. after 1sec.= u-gt= 20-10×1sec= 10 m/s so using v²-u²=2as s= 10²- 20²/-2×10= 15m so potential = mgh so 2kg×10m/s²×15m=300kgm²/s²

The potential of the mass after 1 sec is 294 J.

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of the object, m = 2 kg

Initial velocity of the object, u = 20 m/s

Time, t = 1 s

Let d is the distance covered by the man at the end of 1 second. So,

d=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}at^2

Here, a = -g

d=ut-\dfrac{1}{2}gt^2

d=20\times 1-\dfrac{1}{2}\times 9.8(1)^2

d=15\ m

Let E is the potential of the mass after 1 sec. It is given by :

E=mgh

E=2\times 9.8\times 15

E = 294 J

So, the potential of the mass after 1 sec is 294 J. hence, this is the required solution.
