Concept :

Momentum is simply product of mass and velocity of the object. Mathematically,

p = mv

Where,

  • p is denoted for Momentum
  • m is the mass of object
  • v is velocity of object

On moving ahead to our question we come to know that,

  1. Mass = 500g = 0.5 kg
  2. Velocity = 10 m/s

(i) Initial momentum :

➝ p = mv

➝ p = 0.5 * 10 = 50 kg m/s

(ii) Momentum at highest point :

Velocity at the highest point is 0 m/s

➝ p = mv

➝ p = 0.5 * 0 = 0 kg m/s
