A man traveled at 40 kmph. Had he increased speed by 16 kmph, he would have covered 80 km more at the same time. What is the actual distance travelled by him?

Answer:

Let the time taken is t hrs

And distance is d km

In first case speed is 40kmph

t=d/40 hrs

In second case speed is 40+16=56kmph

And distance covered is 80 km more as usual

t=d+80/56 hrs

Time taken is same in both the cases so equate both the equation

d/40=d+80/56

d/5=d+80/7

7d=5d+400

2d=400

d=200 km
