Answer:

traveled distance:-

(3/4×a)+(1/5×a)+5=a

(3a/4)+(1a/5)=a-5

now LCM:-

(5×3a)+(4×1a)/20=a

5×3a+4×1a/20=a

(5+4)+(3a×1a)/20=a

9+3a/20=a

9+3a=20a

9=20a-3a

9=17a

17a=9

a=9/17

a= 0.5294117647

Answer:

Let the total distance of his journey be X km

Then,  \: the \:  total. \:  distance  \: covered \:  by \:  bus = \frac{3}{4} of \: x \: km =  \frac{3x}{4}  \: km

the \: distance \: covered \: by \: taxi \:  \\  =  \frac{1}{5}  \: of \: x \: km =  \frac{x}{5} km

the \: distance \: covered \:on \: foot \:  = 5km \\  \\ total \: distance \:  = x \: km \\  \frac{3x}{4}  +  \frac{x}{5}  + 5 = x

Multiplying both sides of the equation by 20, the LCM of 4 and 5, we get

15x + 4x + 100 = 20x

19x + 100 = 20x

20x - 19x = 100

x = 100

hence the total distance of the journey = 100km.
