Given :

• A man travelled 30 km east of a place A and

reached B.

• Then he turned west and walked 60 km to place C.

To Find :

• The distance between A and C.

Solution :

It is given that the man travelled 30 km east from place A to place B and the 60 km west from place B to place A.

→ BA = 30 km

→ BC = 60 km

Also,

→ BA + AC = BC

→ 30 + AC = 60

→ AC = 60 - 30

→ AC = 30 km

Therefore the distance from place A to place C is 30 km

Note :-

From this, we can observer that place A is located directly in between places B and C.
