A man travelled 47 1/2 km in one day

=>47 1/2
=  94  +1/2
 = 95/2km

he covered 29 1/3 km by scooter 8 5/6 km on bicycle and rest on foot

=> 29 1/3                                             =>        8 5/6
= 87+1/3                                                      =  48+5/6
= 88 / 3                                                      = 53/6

so let us form an equation

 \frac{95}{2}  =  \frac{88}{3} +  \frac{53}{6} +foot

=> \frac{285}{6} = \frac{176}{6} + \frac{53}{6} +foot

 =>  \frac{285}{6} = \frac{229}{6} +foot

=> foot =  \frac{285}{6} - \frac{229}{6}

=>foot = 56/6

foot =  28 /3km

      = 9 \frac{1}{3}  km

hope it helps u.............
