we know that speed = distance / time

let x be the distance on foot

so by bycycle = (90-x)

[time = distance / speed]

so the equation will be

x/8 + (90-x)/17 = 9 hours

or soving this equation we get

9x + 720 = 1224

9x = 504

x=56  {travel on foot} & (90-56 = 34)
