Answer:

The distance travelled on foot is 63 kms

Explanation:

Formula used:

speed=\frac{Distance}{Time}

Given :

Walking speed = 9 km/ hour

Cycling speed = 18 km/hour

Total distance travelled = 99 kms

Let x be the distance travelled by walking

Then, (99-x) is the distance traelled by cycling

On walking:

Walking speed = 9 km/ hour

Time\:taken=\frac{x}{9} (using formula)

On cycling:

cycling speed = 18 km/ hour

Time\:taken=\frac{99-x}{18} (using formula)

But , total time taken = 9 hours

This implies,

\frac{x}{9}+\frac{99-x}{18}=9

\frac{2x+99-x}{18}=9

\frac{x+99}{18}=9

x+99=162

x=162-99

x=63\:kms
