Let the distance between his house and office be d and the normal time be t hours.

When he drives at 20 km/h, it takes (t + 1/6) hours and when at 30 kmph, it takes (t – 1/6) hours.

D = 20 * (t + 1/6)

D = 30 * (t – 1/6)

Equating the two equations, we have

20 * (t + 1/6) = 30 * (t – 1/6)

t = 50 mins

Distance = 20 * (1) = 20 kms

The distance between his house and office is 20kms.
