Answer:

6 km

Step-by-step explanation:

(H)^2 = (B)^2 + (x)^2

(10)^2 = (8)^2 + (x) ^2

x^2 = 100-64

x^2 = 36

x = √36

x = 6

A man travels 10 kms towards north-east      ( given)

and then travels 8 kms towards south,           ( given)

Let the distance between starting point to end point = X km

The person covers right angled Δ path.

whose hypotenuse 10cm. another two sides are , 8km ( base) . and Xkm( height)

Here we have to find out Xkm by using Pythagoras theory.

∴ Hypotenuse ² = base ² + height²

⇒ ( 10km) = ( 8)²km + X²km

⇒(10)² ={ (8)² + (x)²}km

⇒x² =( 100-64)km

⇒x² = 36km

⇒x = √36km

⇒x = 6km

Ans :- The distance between starting point to end point will be 6km.
