\huge\mathfb{Solution :-}

Given ➡

  • Total distance = 401 km
  • Velocity by rail = 56 km/hr¹
  • Velocity by steamer = 21 km/hr¹
  • 6 hours more he spends on steamer

To find ➡

  • Distance covered by steamer = ?

Solution ➡

Let the time spend on rail be :- x

Therefore, the time spend on steamer - x + 6

According to question,

Distance traveled by rail + Distance travelled by steamer = 401

Distance = Speed × time

21 × ( x + 6 ) + 56 × x = 401

➡ 21 x + 126 + 56x = 401

➡ 77x = 401 - 126

➡ x = 275 / 77

➡ x = 3.57
