Let east direction be positive and west be negative.

Delhi is mean position and so let it be 0.

Since he travels 60km east,

0+60=60.

And he travels 100km west,

60-100= -40.

Negative sign indicates he is west of Delhi.....

Therefore he is 40 km west of Delhi

Answer:

the distance travelled in east = 60km

the distance travelled in West = -(100)

the relative distance 60 km + (-100 )km

hence, the man is 40 kilometre west of Delhi
