Answer:

Let the speed of train be x

Let the speed of car be y

distance = speed*time

320/x + 600-320/y = 8 + 40/60

320/x + 280/y = 8 + 2/3

320/x + 280/y = 26/3 (By LCM method)--------- eq 1

200/x + 600-200 /y= 8+2/3+1/2

200/x + 400/y = 55/6 (BY LCM method) ----------eq 2

Let 1/x = a & 1/y = b

320a + 280b = 26/3

200a + 400b = 55/6

3(320a + 280b) = 26

960a + 840b = 26

6(200a + 400b )= 55

1200a+ 2400b= 55

By Cross multipication method

a/-16200 = 1/1296000

a= 1/80

b/2100 = 1/1296000

b= 1/60

1/x=1/80

x= 80km/hr

1/y= 1/60

y= 60 km/hr
