a) Total distance = ( 1.5m + 2.0m + 4.5m )

= 8m

b) Displacement =

 {oc}^{2}  = {dc}^{2}  +  {do}^{2}

oc =  \sqrt{ {dc}^{2} +  {do}^{2}  }

oc =  \sqrt{ {6}^{2}  +  {2}^{2} }

 oc = \sqrt{36 + 4}

oc =  \sqrt{4(1 + 9)}

oc =  \sqrt{ {2}^{2}(1 + 9) }

 oc = {2}^{2}  \sqrt{10}
