A man travels for 5 hours 15minutes .if he covers the first half of the journey at 60km/hr and the rest at 45km/ hr. find the total distance travelled

Then time taken to travel the second half = (5 - x) hr 


Distance covered in the first half= 60x (Distance =speed x time)


distance covered in the second half= 45(5-x)


So,

the distance covered in first half = the distance covered in second half

so,

=>60x=45(5-x)

=>60x=225-45x

=>60x+45x=225

=>105x=225

=>x=225/105

=>x=15/7


Total distance=2*60(15/7) =120*15/7=257.14km

(multipled by 2 because as 60x the distance is half way)
