This question is very simple.
Average speed = Total Distance / Total Time Taken
But we have only speeds S1 and S2
S1 = 10km/hr
S2 = 5km/hr
So now let us assume that the distance between a and b will be 10km ( LCM of 10and 5 )
D1 = 10 km
D2 = 10km
Total Distance = D1 + D2 = 10 + 10= 20km
Now
T1 = D1/S1
T1 = 10/10 = 1 hr
T2 = D2/S2
T2 = 10/5 = 2 hr
Total Time = T1 + T2 = 1 + 2 = 3 hr
Now
Average Speed = Total Distance / Total Time = 20 / 3
Average Speed = 6.33 km/hr
