So Draw this On a paper let intital position Be A
1. From A he goes 2km to the west point B ( Left side from initial position on paper)
2. From point B he goes down to point C in south direction ( Downward direction to B ) by 4km
3. From C he goes to Point D in east direction ( Right side of C )
4 From D he goes back to west for 1km ( left side of D )
5 Now you will see that initial and final position are one the same line but at a distance of 4km
Thus answer is 4km
