Answer:

If the distance traveled is same, then,

If x and y are two speeds, then,

Average speed = 2xy/x+y

Hence, Average speed = 2×8×6/8+6

= 96/14Km/h

= 6.857.. km/h

Solution :-

We know that, when two speeds are given as a km/h and b km/h ,

  • Average speed of the journey = 2ab/(a + b)

given that,

  • a = 8 km/h
  • b = 6 km/h

so,

→ Average speed = 2ab/(a + b)

→ Average speed = (2 * 8 * 6)/(8 + 6)

→ Average speed = 96/14

→ Average speed = 48/7

→ Average speed ≈ 6.86 km/h (Ans.)

Hence, the average speed of the given man is 6.86 km/h (approx) .
