\sf\small\underline\blue{Let:-}

\sf{\longrightarrow Distance\: covered\:_{(train)}=x}

\sf{\longrightarrow Distance\: covered\:_{(bus)}=2x}

\sf\small\underline\blue{Given:-}

\sf{\longrightarrow Total\: distance=70km}

\sf{\longrightarrow Distance\: covered\:by\:walk=10km}

\sf\small\underline\blue{To\:Find:-}

\sf{\longrightarrow Distance\: covered\:_{(train)}=?}

\sf\small\underline\blue{Solution:-}

We solve this question by setting up equation. As given in the question that a man walks 10km then travels a certain distance by train and then by buses far as twice by the train. if the whole journey is of 70km.

\sf\small\underline{Calculation\: begin:-}

\sf{\longrightarrow Distance\:_{(by\:car+train+walk)}=Total\:_{(distance)}}

\rm{\longrightarrow 2x+x+10=70}

\rm{\longrightarrow 3x+10=70}

\rm{\longrightarrow 3x=70-10}

\rm{\longrightarrow 3x=60}

\rm{\longrightarrow x=20}

\sf\large{Hence,}

\bf{\longrightarrow Distance\: covered\:_{(train)}=20km}

Question:-

  • A man walks 10km then travels a certain distance by train and then by buses far as twice by the train. if the whole journey is of 70km , how far did he travel by train.

To Find:-

  • Find how far did he travel by train.

Solution:-

  • Let the distance travelled by train be x

  • The distance travelled by bus be 2x

According to the Question:-

\dashrightarrow\sf \:  Distance \: covered \: by \: walk + bus + train  = 70 \: km

\dashrightarrow\sf \:  10 + 2x + x = 70

\dashrightarrow\sf \:  10 + 3x = 70

\dashrightarrow\sf \:  3x = 70 - 10

\dashrightarrow\sf \:  x = \dfrac { 60 } { 3 }

\dashrightarrow\sf \:  x = 20

Hence ,

  • Distance travelled by train = 20 km.

  • Distance travelled by bus is 2x = 40 km.
