Solution:

In triangle OAB

OB=20 m

$Cos\theta=\frac{Base}{hypotenuse}$

Using the formula

$Cos60=\frac{OA}{OB}$

$\frac{1}{2}=\frac{OA}{20}$

Where $Cos60=\frac{1}{2}$

$\frac{1}{2}\times 20=OA$

$OA=10 m$

Hence, he has traveled 10 m in east direction.
