Man walks 2m in East
and Then , he walks 1.2 m in North

If we make figure of this movement we'll obtain a right angled triangle which will get complete when we join starting and ending points of the man.

So, his distance from starting point will be given by Pythagorean theorem.

I.e. A²+B² = C²

So, here we have to find hypotenuse for the distance between starting and ending point.

So, let the distance or hypotenuse be x .

Using Pythagorean theorem-

x² = 2²+1.2²

or, x² = 4 + 1.44

or, x² = 5.44

or, √x² = √5.44

or, x = 2.33 m

Answer) His distance from starting point is 2.33m.
