A man walks 6m towards east and then towards 8m south. With the help of diagram. Find the total distance travelled and the displacement ?

24m distance

18m displacement

Explanation:

diagram forms triangle with 6m and 8m

so by Pythagoras method 3rd side =10m

distance=6+8+10=24

displacement=final posn-intial =24-6=18m
