If a body goes from A to B with a velocity of 20 m/s and comes back from B to A with a velocity of 30 m/s. what is the average velocity of the body during the whole journey?
Let the distance between A and B be 60 m. Time taken to travel from A to B = 60m/20m/s = 3 sec. Time taken to travel from B to A = 60m/30m/s = 2 sec.
The total distance travelled from A to B and B to A is 60+60 = 120m and the total time taken to travel from A to B and B to A = 3+2 = 5 s.
Hence average velocity = 120m/5s = 24 m/s.
