Given :-

  • A man walks a distance of 5 km in 2 hours. Then he goes in a bus to a neart town, which is 40 km, in further2 hours. From there, he goes to his office in 1 hour

To find :-

  • Average speed

Solution :-

In first case

  • Distance travelled = 5km
  • Time taken = 2 hrs

In second case

  • Distance travelled = 40km
  • Time taken = 2 hrs

Now, as we have that

Average speed = total distance travelled/total time taken

Average speed = D1 + D2/t1 + t2

Average speed = 5 + 40/2 + 2

Average speed = 45/4

Average speed = 11.25km/h

Hence,

  • Average speed of man is 11.25km/h

Correct Question :-

  • A man walks a distance of 5 km in 2 hours. Then he goes in a bus to a near a town, which is 40 km, in further 2 hours. What was his average speed?

Solution :-

We have to Find Average Speed.

So, Formula Used :-

Average Speed = D1 + D2/T1 + T2

Now,

D1 = 5,

D2 = 40,

T1 = 2,

T2 = 2.

Put the values.

➝ Average Speed = 5 + 40/2 + 2.

➝ Average Speed = 45/4.

➝ Average Speed = 11.25 km/h.

Hence, Average Speed = 11.25km/h.
