A man walks on a square track of side 20 m. He has completed two and half round after
starting from the comer. Find distance and displacement.

First talking about distance covered :

Two rounds means… perimeter of the square ×2+perimeter2

⟹80(perimeter)×2+802

∴ distance=200 m

And now displacement…

Simply if someone covers no. Of rounds in natural number in any closed fig. …his displacement is 0

Now the person is standing at the initial point..

If he moves half round foroward… then he'll stand at the diagonally opposite side of the square.

So the displacement is equal to → the length of the diagonal of the square path =2–√×20

∴displacement=202–√m
