Answer:

He is 16 km far from his house .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that :

  • Man walks 16 Km towards North
  • Take a left and walks 8 Km
  • Take a left and walks 32 Km
  • Again take a left and walks 8 Km

To find :

  • Distance between starting and ending position

Solution :

  • Let , the man starts walking towards North from point A.
  • After travelling 16 km, he reaches to point B.
  • At point B, he takes a left. Since the man is facing towards North, West direction is his left.
  • From B, it walks 8 km in West and reaches point C.
  • Now, at point C he took a left. Since he is facing West direction, his left is South.
  • From C walking 32 Km towards South, he reaches point D.
  • At point D, he took a left. Now he is facing South, his left is East.
  • From D he walks 8 Km again towards East and reaches point E.
  • Since, E and A are in same line. Distance between starting and ending point is AE.
  • AE = (32 - 16) km = 16 km.
  • Hence, he is 16 km away from starting point in South direction.
