A man walks uphill at an average speed of 3 km/hr and downhill at an average speed of 5 km/hr. find his average speed on a journey over 18 km of uphill and 20 km of downhill terrain.

Uphill speed = 10Km/h

Downhill speed = 36Km/h    

Let distance = x

Average speed = total distance /time

                          = (x+x)/(x/10 + x/36) = 15.65 m/s
