A man wants to paint all the walls of a room measuring 8 metres by 5 metres.Find the surface area of the walls that needs to be painted.

GIVEN :

length of wall = 8 m
breadth of wall = 5 m

SOLUTION :

As we know that we always paint the 5 sides of a room except the 6 th which is the floor.

Now ,
Area of 1 wall = lb
= 8 * 5
= 40 m^2

Hence ,
surface area of 5 walls = 1 wall area * 5
= 40 * 5
= 200 m^2

Hence , surface area of walls that needs to be painted is 200 m^2.
