A man wants to purchase an article of marked price Rs 4,000 which is being sold at a discount. if, the sales tax is 10% on the price charged, he can buy it for Rs 4200. find the rate of discount allowed.

Marked price is equal to 4000
Sales tax =10%=400
Now Total amount that should be spend on the article is 4400
But the person is buying it at 4200
The difference between 4400-4200=200 is the discount offered by the shopkeeper
So discount percentage =(200/4000)*100
=5%
