Given ;

  • weight of a man = 880N
  • g = 10m/s

Thus using the equation ;

W = M×g \: \\ 880 = M×10 \:  \\ M \:  =  \frac{880}{10}  \\ M  = 88kg

Thus mass of the man is 88kg at the equator of the earth.

  • There weight of this man will probably increase

  • as the value of g at the poles is much greater than that of the equator

Answer:

88 kg

Increase

Explanation: (on basis of given data)

At equator:  gravitation acceleration is 10 m/s².

∴ force(weight) = mg

    880 = m(10)

    880/10 = 88 = m(mass)

Mass of the man is 88 kg.

At the poles: distance from the centre of earth is lesser than that from equator. As g is inversely proportional to the distance, and distance is decreased, it must increase.

∴ Weight must increase
