let's rs 100 note be =x

and rs 50 note be =y

total notes =x+y=68--------(1)

According to question

100x+50y=5000---------(2)

multiply by 50 in equation (1)

50x+50y=3400--------(3)

from equation (3) and (2)

we get

100x + 50y = 5000

50x + 50y = 3400

x = 1600/50

x = 32----------(4)

put the value of x in equation (1)

x + y = 68

32 + y =68

y = 68 - 32

y = 36
