Here the number of tigers and number of monkeys is given

number of tigers = x

number of monkeys = 4 times the no of tigers

                                 = 4x

We have to find a mathematical expression of the total number of animals he saw at the zoo

Total number of animals = number of tigers + number of monkeys

                                        = x + 4x

                                        = 5x

Hence, the man saw a total of 5x animals in the zoo
