Answer:

He can have 30 buffaloes and 30 hens.

Here’s my calculation:

wkt, 1. buffaloes have 4 legs

2. hens have 2 legs

3. both have 2 eyes.

scenario : max buffalo

divide 180 by 4 (legs) = 45 buffalo

120 by 2 eyes = 60 buffalo

the numbers do not match, hence this scenario cannot be possible.

scenerio: max hen

180/2= 90

120/2= 60

again, numbers do not match.

To find the number of animals, reduce the number 180 to a lower multiple of 4 (to make things easier, 180=18)

now, 160 legs /4 = 40 buffalo

no. of eyes= 80

for hen, legs= 20 i.e 10 hens (180–160)

eyes= 40 i.e 20 hens (120–80)

again the numbers do not match.

Reduce the number of legs again.

now, 120 legs /4= 30 buffalo

no. of eyes= 60

for hen, legs=60 i.e 30 hens(180–120)

eyes=60 i.e 30 hens (120–60)

NOw, we have hens and buffalo with proper no. of limbs and eyes.

ps.: i hope it is understandable, and not too long.
