a man while walking observes that the rain is falling vertically downward if he suddenly stop walking then in which direction the Rains drop will strike him(1) on the chest (2) on his back​

  • In the first case when the raindrops fall vertically downwards: Then the velocity of the rain will be same as that of the man.
  • Suppose the man walks in +x direction, then the rain drops will have a direction in the -xy direction with the same velocity.
  • When the man stops, the raindrops will strike on his chest.
  • The velocity of the man will now be 0 m/s but the rain drops will continuously fall in the -xy direction (3rd quadrant).
