A man who's mass is 50kg standing in a lift.the lift is moving downwards with acceleration 1.8m/s.find the apparent weight of the man

Apparent Weight of man =

Actual weight of man - Upward Force

= Mg - Ma

= M(g-a)

Where

  • M is mass of man
  • g is acceleration due to gravity
  • a is the acceleration of lift

So the putting the values in above formula we get

50(9.8 - 1.8)

50(8)

400

Apparent Weight is 400N
