A man whose mass is 90 kg stands on his
feet on a floor. The total area of contact of
his two feet with the floor is 0.036² m (Take,
8 = 10 ms-²). How much is the pressure
exerted by him on the floor?

Answer:

25000 pa

Explanation:

Given,

  • Mass of the man,m = 90 kgs
  • Area of contact,a = 0.036m²
  • Acceleration due to gravity = 10 m/s²

To find,

  1. Force of the man
  2. Pressure exerted by him on the floor

We know,

1.)F = ma

But 'a' can be taken as 'g' because he isn't moving.

Hence,

  • F : mg
  • F : 90 x 10
  • F : 900N

2.)P = F/A

  • p : 900/0.036
  • p : 900/0.036/1000
  • p : 900 x 1000/36
  • p : 25000pa

Hope it helps
