A mango Is hanging from a tree, draw a free body diagram relative to this event. Find tension acting on the mango. (Mass of the mango is 400g)

When a mango is hanging from the tree, there are two forces acting on it.

1. The force due to earth gravitation, acts in downward direction, this can be represented mathematically as

F=mg

here, m is the mass of the mango, g is the acceleration due to gravity.

2. There is a reaction force of the force due to gravity, in form of tension on the mango, the tension on the mango is in upward direction, which is equal in magnitude to the force due to gravity

T=F=mg

Plugging the values in the above equation

T=0.4 (kg)×9.81=3.9 N

Therefore, tension on the mango is 3.9 N
