Given :  A manufactures a TV in Mumbai (Maharashtra) sells it to a dealer in Nasik (Maharashtra)  for a rebate of 25%, the list price of the TV being ₹ 40,000. If the rate of GST is 18%, and the  net CGST payable by the dealer is ₹ 540,

To find : the discount% given by the dealer to the  customer in Nasik.

Solution:

List price  = Rs 40000

rebate of 25%  = (25/100)40000 = Rs 10000

Selling Price = 40000 - 10000 = Rs 30000

GST = 18 %  => CGST = SGST = GST/2 = 18/2 = 9 %

CGST = SGST = (9/100)30000 = Rs 2700

net CGST payable by the dealer is ₹ 540

=> CGST charged by Dealer = 2700 + 540 = Rs 3240

Let say selling price to customer = x

=> (9/100)x = 3240

=> x = 36000  Rs

Discount = 40000 - 36000 = Rs 4000

Discount % = (4000/40000) * 100 = 10 %

10 % discount  given by the dealer to the  customer in Nasik.
