Given :-

⇒ A map has different countries shaded in red, blue, and green.

  • ³/ of the map is red.
  • ¹/ of the map is green.

To Find :-

◉ Fraction of the map which is blue

Solution :-

Given in the question that the map has different (three) countries shaded in red, blue, and green.

Now it is clear that the map has only three parts which are shaded in three different colours.

⇒ Part A + Part B + Part C = 1 ...(1)

Let the part of the map shaded in blue be x.

According to (1),

⇒ 3/7 + 1/7 + x = 1

⇒ 4/7 + x = 1

⇒ (4 + 7x)/7 = 1

⇒ 4 + 7x = 7

⇒ 7x = 3

x = 3/7

Hence, ³/ of the map is also shaded in blue colour.

Verification :-

⇒ Sum of each part = 1

⇒ 3/7 + 1/7 + 3/7 = 1

⇒ 4/7 + 3/7 = 1

⇒ 7/7 = 1

⇒ 1 = 1

Hence, Verified.
