A map is drawn with a scale of 1: 4000 that is 1 cm represents 4000 km. The distance between 2
places X and Y is represented on the map as 8 cm. What is the actual distance between X and Y?
It's really very urgent because I have to study for exams

5cm on a map represents =5×4000000=20,000,000‬cm

1km=1000m

1m=100cm

∴1km=1000×100=100000cm

∴100000cm=1km

∴20,000,000‬cm=

100000

20,000,000‬

km=200km

Thus, the actual distance between two towns is 200km.
