Explanation:

as the marble chip which is CaCo3, is immersed in vinegar,there will be a reaction which leads to decrease in the mass of the chip

Mass of dried marble chip will be - A. less than 2.0

Marble chips are white substances used in place of gravel. They have chemical formula CaCO3 known as calcium carbonate.

Vinegar used for cooking and other purposes is acetic acid. It has a chemical formula CH3COOH.

When marble is kept in vinegar the reaction will take place, which is -

CH3COOH + CaCO3 --> Ca(CH3COO)2 + CO2 + H2O

Ca(CH3COO)2 is calcium acetate, CO2 is carbon dioxide and H2O is water.

Since carbon dioxide is being released and calcium acetate salt is being formed, marble chip loses it's constituents and hence results in loss of mass.
