HI

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A marked price of mobile phone is ₹8,000 . a shopkeeper sells it at a discount of 20%and earn profit of 25%. find the cost price of the mobile phone.

-------------------------------------------------------------

here is the solution..........................

mp = 8000

d% = 20%

sp = 8000 - (20*8000/100)

sp = 8000 - 1600

      = rs 6400

but he still gains 25% profit

cp = sp *100/100 + p

    = 6400 *100/100 +25

 = 6400 * 100//125

cp = rs 5120

hope it helps u

Given:

Market price = 8000 rupees

Discount = 20 %

Earns profit = 25 %

To find:

The cost price.

Solution:

Selling price = Market price - Discount

Here,

Discount from the market price = 20 * 8000 / 100

Substituting,

We get,

8000 - ( 20 * 8000 / 100 )

8000 - 1600

Selling price = 6400  rupees

To find the cost price,

Cost price = Selling price - p rofit

Here,

Profit = 25 / 100 * 6400

Profit = 1600 rupees

Cost price = 6400 - 1600

Hence, Cost price = 4800 rupees
