A marker is selected from a box containing 100
different markers. The selected marker is found
to be defective so it is placed back in the box,
and then second marker is picked. What is the
probability that the second marker selected is

2/100 is the probability

richi1197: ok
Subs24: Explain
richi1197: divide the number of possible outcomes. this will give the probability of single outcome
richi1197: that means that there are 100 markers
richi1197: but only 1 marker is defective
Subs24: But y 2/100?? Y not (1-58/100)
richi1197: but the 2nd marker can also be defective that is probability but it not sure
Subs24: Ya so rest 99 are ok
Subs24: Ok....
Subs24: But out of 100 only 1 is defective... Rest 99 are ok
