Given:

  • A mass of 2kg is taken on moon.

To Find:

  • The weight of object on moon.

Formula Used:

\large{\underline{\boxed{\red{\tt{\dag Weight=mass\times accl^n }}}}}

Calculation:

Method 1:

Given that mass of the body is 2kg .

So , its weight on the earth will be = Mass × acclⁿ due to gravity .

= 2kg × 10m/s² .

= 20kg-m/s²

= 20N .

Now we know that weight of object on moon will be ⅙ times the weight of object on earth .

So , weight of moon :

= 20N/6 .

= 3.33 N . ( approx. )

Method 2:

We know that accelⁿ due to gravitation on moon is 1.67m/s² . So , weight = mass × acclⁿ ( moon) .

= 1.67m/s² × 2 kg

= 3.33 kg - m/s² .

= 3.33 N .

Hence the weight on moon is 3.33 N.
