A mass of 5 kg falls from a height of 50 m. Calculate (i) Velocity of the body (ii) Kinetic

energy of body when it just reaches the ground level. Does the velocity depend upon the

mass of the particle? Explain. (Take g = 10 ms-2)

Answer:

Explanation:

m=5kg

u=50m/s

g=10m/s²

(i) if a body is thrown downwards its final velocity becomes zero

(ii) u=50m/s

g=10m/s²

kinetic energy=1/2×m×u²

=1/2×5×(50)²

=1/2×5×2500

=2500×5/2

=12500/2

=6250 joules
