A mass of 5kg is at a point A on a table. It is moved to point b, 25cm away, by applying a force of 20N in the direction of force. What is the work done on the object by (i) the gravitational force, and (ii) the applied force.

Answer:

(i)

Work done by gravitaional force(Wg) = F×s

Wg = 50×0 [as there is no displacement along y axis]

Wg = 0J

(ii)

Work done by applied force(Wa) = F×s

Wa = 20×25

Wa = 500J
